Rotherham Council - Chesterhill Intensive Neighbourhood Management Pilot
“The pilot has made our neighbourhood more open…we’re keyed up now about who’s who…we know we have a voice and we can make changes and we have…we have the full support of the council and the police and our local Councillors and we are being listened to …..There’s a real buzz around the place and things are definitely changing for the better.” (Resident, July 2008)
The Chesterhill Intensive Neighbourhood Management Pilot is an innovative approach to partnership working in Rotherham’s most vulnerable neighbourhood fully supported and initiated through Rotherham’s Local Strategic Partnership.
The pilot aims to empower the local community and increase levels of involvement between residents and service providers, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and shape the local area through more coherent and responsive service delivery. Financial investment is minimal and the pilot isn’t supported by external funding.
The pilot area has a population of 1,327 residents (650 households). The twelve month pilot began in September 2007, based in the locality co-located within a young peoples centre, managed and delivered by a neighbourhood Initiatives Manager and steered via a multi-agency strategic group.
