North East Lincolnshire Council - Development and Re-organisation of Children's Centre Services

The Local Authority became accountable for children’s centres in 2004 and has responsibility to ensure that services are delivered within the communities.

Transformation was needed in the way that services were being delivered  in order to meet the needs of the children and their families as the entitlement to services was becoming  universal, whilst  ensuring that quality services were available on a reducing budget.

We needed to ensure that whilst delivering a universal service to all families our most vulnerable families received the extra level of service required to enable us to make a difference to their lives as previously the services received by families were inconsistent.

In order to achieve this it was essential that all organisations from Health, Social Care and Education worked more closely together in integrated children’s teams to deliver this demanding agenda.

Restructuring took place which examined job roles and responsibilities and partners worked together to develop and integrated carepathway.

The Carepathway brings together the different contacts made by each of the organisations into one model of a pathway for service delivery.  By delivering a co-ordinated multi agency care pathway resources are used more efficiently and have had a positive impact on the families lives who took part in the project.
