Humberside Fire Authority - I'm A Collision Casualty

‘Reduced to tears by the experience’, ‘The shock and look of horror on the faces of the participants when they realise that their driving could have put their son in a wheelchair for the rest of his life’. This is just two comments made by the fire fighters carrying out the extrications on this innovative demonstration.

Participants are seated in a specially modified vehicle and experience the horrors of being rescued from a vehicle collision.  Using cutting equipment, stretchers, backboards, wheelchairs, bandages and siren noises the Emergency Services practically demonstrate, in graphic detail, how serious the consequences of vehicle collision can be.  The demonstration shows how fire fighters and police officers and ambulance personnel are involved in releasing passengers and drivers from a crashed vehicle.  During the demonstration the rescue teams, act, ask the same questions, lift and immobilise the participants just as they would in a real collision, all of this is done with the casualties blindfold so that they can experience the sensation of being partially conscious and helpless.

A unique and high impact demonstration which is in great demand for road safety events.
