Leeds Council - Gallery 37 Plus 2007
Leeds Gallery 37 Plus 2007 focused on an intensive summer school which aimed to motivate young people through creativity and the arts, developing skills, revealing talent and building self-confidence through accredited training and work experience.
- Objectives:
Recruit 96 young people to the project successfully targeting people facing barriers to accessing the creative industries.
- Attain an 80% completion rate in the first year of the project.
Ensure those completing the project move into further training education or employment.
- Work with learning providers to develop an appropriate accreditation framework.
- Work with appropriate artistic partners to deliver high-quality and industry relevant workshops.
The project targeted young people facing barriers to mainstream progression routes who can most benefit from the activity. Participants had the chance to find out what’s really involved in working in the arts sector to give them the knowledge, skills and confidence to take their next move. The project provided 96 young people aged 16-24 with four weeks of intensive and high quality arts experience leading into a range of progression routes - training, further education or employment. 70 participants gained a Bronze Arts Award accredited by Arts Council England.
