Hull City Council - Hull Museums Collection Website
Hull Museums has developed a new innovative Collections Website which is unique because it enables people to access the entire museums collections as they go live online for the first time. www.hullcc.gov.uk/museumcollections.
The project is accessible, user friendly and uses latest technology to engage with new audiences at a range of enquiry levels. Unique stories written specifically about some of the more unusual or interesting collections, provide a fun and easy way for people to connect with the new website. Prior to this all information about the collections were kept on card files which were difficult for local people to access.
Now the public can access these important collections locally, nationally and internationally on the web and explore these collections further through specially designed quizzes, e-cards, stories, e-galleries and other fun ways. The website aims to inspire people to find out more, to learn and interact with their history and heritage. Students and researchers can also gain access to more detailed collections information and images of key primary resources where required.
The ‘I Love Hull Museums Collections’ project was launched on February 14th 2008 with public events in shopping and community centres across the city.
