Kirklees Council - Information and Inspiration
So what’s so special about the team at Birstall Library and Information Centre?
In the words of their customers:
“Cool:o Library!”
“Being disabled we use the L.I.C. a lot and we both find the staff very very helpful. It doesn’t matter if we are paying bills or taking out another book the service we get is 100%. The activities you put on are always well attended, sometimes the rooms are too small for the functions which must show how much we all like you.”
In the current climate of libraries facing the threat of closure across the country, Kirklees Council is bucking the trend by developing their Libraries into Library and Information Centres. The team at Birstall Library and Information Centre (LIC) led the way as the first such centre to open in the borough.
Taking up the challenge with great enthusiasm their results speak for themselves as they have successfully sustained an 82% increase in visitors - currently 126,000 per annum.
Theirs is a winning formula of providing a combination of services which customers value and a quality of service which consistently tops the customer satisfaction surveys. There’s a reason people keep coming through their doors!
