Stepping Up To The Challenge

Rotherham Council - More People, More Active, More Often

Rotherham Council - More People, More Active, More Often

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s Sports Development Team was re-formed in April 2004 to allow a new way of thinking that would get more of the borough’s population to actively participate in sport and physical activity whilst contributing to tackling issues relating to health, crime and social inclusion.

This entry highlights how partnerships, planning and the development of new and challenging programmes, are contributing to the long-term goal of creating sustainable community activity while changing cultures in order to increase the number of people participating in sport and physical activity. The message promoted under the Council’s ‘Rotherham Alive’ banner is ‘More People, More Active, More Often’.

In many ways the Sports Development Team are not doing anything different to similar teams across the country but it does recognise that continuous improvement and raising the quality of provision has a clear affect on customer participation, satisfaction and retention levels.

Reputation is everything.
