Calderdale Forward - Calderdale Summer University
Calderdale Summer University is truly collaborative. It was initiated by Calderdale Forward partners; steered by young people; and delivered by 35 top class employers, education providers, sports clubs and cultural groups.
It is aspirational. It caught the imagination of 11-19 year olds from all over Calderdale because young people took all the key decisions about activities, marketing, publicity and launch.
From 3D Animation at Leeds Metropolitan University, to Carving Fat at Huddersfield Technical College; from CSI Bradford to Acting About at the West Yorkshire Playhouse; from Journalism at Halifax Evening Courier to Green Magic, Summer Uni offers the widest range of holiday learning ever in Calderdale.
We could not place all 2,500 applicants this year, but with feedback like this , we know we are hitting the spot:
- I have decided.. I am going to come to Calderdale College. It wasn’t as scary as I thought
- He had a fantastic day at the fire station; he loved every minute of it. B had three brilliant days at Ryburn Valley High on the photography/acting/dance course. B was the only child from their school but now has a lot more friends from other schools. We can't ask more than that..
