Rotherham Council - Visioning Days

Rotherham Council - Visioning Days

Visioning Days were developed to bring together staff, partners, voluntary agencies and citizens of Rotherham; empowering them to shape their local services in response to key national drivers and local influences.

The events are entertaining, inspiring and innovative as well as informative; using creative means of engaging with staff and customers including: games and activities, workshops, DVDs, visual aids such as T-shirts and opinion cards.

Customers have opportunities to share their views on Rotherham’s services, whether good or bad, through innovative means such as “Reality Checks” and “Turning the tables” empowering them to discuss their experiences and respond to questions from the audience.

A number of real outcomes have been achieved through Visioning Days, including the successful shaping of adaptations services, leading to more efficient person centred services and the shaping of a whole spectrum of services at the Better Tomorrow event, where feedback from Rotherham citizens contributed to two of the Directorates Strategic Objectives.

Broadly speaking, Visioning Days have been key in changing the culture of Neighbourhoods and Adult Services and instilling in staff and customers a sense of ownership of the services delivered, enabling them to make a positive contribution in the development and delivery of services.
