Wakefield Council - Worksmart
Wakefield’s organisational change programme “Worksmart” is designed to modernise the way we work and deliver services. It is delivering real benefits for citizens, employees and the council. The integrated Worksmart programme is rationalising the property portfolio; improving productivity, implementing a modern technical infrastructure, enhancing citizen access channels and providing modern, fit-for-purpose workspaces.
This entry focuses on e-Services’ (the corporate ICT service) adoption of Worksmart, and the workforce involvement programme that was critical in delivering a highly successful outcome to relocating the service to offices 11 miles away and at the same time radically changing the way it works.
A key element of the programme has been the manner in which every employee has had a one-to-one meeting with their manager to identify the ideal work-style taking account of their role and their personal circumstances to increase productivity and efficiency.
