Trade Visit to Xi'an, China - 24th-28th September

Cllr Roger Stone, Leader of Rotherham Council and Vice Chair of LGYH has been invited to speak at the Euro-Asia Economic Forum and the International Congress of the Environment in Xi’an on the 27 September.

He will lead a delegation comprised of politicians and businesses to Xi’an which will provide an opportunity to showcase the region and strengthen economic links with politicians, businesses and universities in the Shaanxi province. UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) are sponsoring businesses from across Yorkshire and Humber who are interested in developing or researching business opportunities in China  to join the delegation. This will be of particular interest to high-tech companies, including those involved in the ICT, aerospace and automotive industries.The offer is also open to companies already doing business with China but who want to strengthen relationships.

Xi’an is the most developed engineering centre of north-west China. In addition, high-tech industries play an important role in the city’s economy and account for almost 50 per cent of industrial output, split between ICT, automotive and aerospace. The service sector, accounts for 54% of GDP, is one of the highest rates in China. Outsourcing and tourism are major contributors to this. Xi’an was one of the fi rst service-outsourcing cities in China.
