2010 Open Weekend confirmed as 23 – 25 July : The weekend will be the curtain-raiser to the ‘2 years to go’ London 2012 celebrations. More information will soon be available on London 2012’s website.
Match funding now available for adiZones : Applications are now open for match funding by DCSF for adiZones. These innovative multi-sport areas, designed and developed by adidas, the Official Sportswear Partner of London 2012, aim to inspire the local community to get involved in sport. In this way they can help councils to achieve their physical activity targets.
Get Set Update
1000 days to go and counting! : On 31 October and 3 December we will mark 1000 days to go until the start of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games respectively. To help schools celebrate these milestones, Get Set has launched new resources.

The Get Set network is launched! : On 15th September, London 2012 launched its special new community, the Get Set network.
The Games delivers benefits to local businesses across the UK : More than 1,000 UK businesses to date have won contracts worth over £5bn from the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) as the venues and infrastructure needed for the Games and legacy continue to take shape. These contracts have in turn created thousands more supply chain opportunities.
Inspire Programme Update : The London 2012 Inspire programme is open to local authorities and non-commercial organisations which deliver projects that are inspired or energised by the 2012 Games.
The London 2012 Inspire programme team are especially keen to see more sport projects and events awarded the Inspire Mark. Councils are the key delivery agent for sport and physical activity and so are ideally placed to work in partnership with London 2012 to increase sport participation.

On your marks – a Games legacy for Scotland :The Scottish Government has launched a legacy plan that sets out how Scotland will create a lasting legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games, as well as the 2012 Games and other major sporting events.
Events
Beacon Council open days: Over coming months the 5 beacon councils Essex, Greenwich, Hackney, Kent and Dorset (with partners) will be hosting Open Days across the country to share good practice in creating a lasting legacy from the Games.
Kent is hosting the 'Sport' Open Day on the 17 November at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, as part of the National Sports Development Seminar. All five Beacons will be running workshops on key sporting priorities. To look at the agenda and book your place please visit

Other Beacon learning activities : Hackney is hosting a programme of free learning events covering culture (8 October), sport (16 October) and employment, training and volunteering (5 November).
