- There is confusion over the best way to address accessibility and how to use accessibility criteria
What are we doing?
- Network Rail, train operators and transport authorities have been improving rail capacity and accessibility. Highways and transport authorities have been implementing measures to improve bus reliability and punctuality
- Highway authorities have been implementing schemes
- Commissioned an Accessibility Project which sought to simplify the process for reporting and assessing development sites against common standards. The report is available here.
- Roll out of Accession Software (from the Department for Transport) - but varied take up and application of the software.
What will we do next?
- Understand how the Accessibility Project has been translated at a local authority level.
- Aim to simplify the process of monitoring
- Identify the value of Accession Software for the region's local authorities and identify other methods if necessary.
What outcomes does this work help to achieve?
