Implementing Regional Transport Priorities

What is the challenge?

  • There is a lack of information on how effective interventions have been, particularly when there are stronger forces at work e.g. changes in the economy.
  • There is a lack of understanding on the freight movements within and beyond the region and the impacts that this has on spatial planning at a local, sub-regional and regional level.

What are we doing?

  • Currently seeking to improve monitoring of schemes.  This will be part of the Annual Monitoring Report 2009.
  • Currently scoping work into freight movements with Yorkshire Forward.

What outcomes will this work address?

  • People have better accessibility to opportunities and facilities, the use of public transport and walking and cycling has increased, and growth in trafficcongestion and transport-related emissions has been addressed.
