Matching housing types to housing needs

What are we doing?

  • Assisting local aurthorities use Strategic Housing Market Assessments to provide evidence for Core Strategy preparation - prepared regional guidance available here.
  • Help keep SHMAs up to date through refreshed guidance available here

What will we do next?

  • Increase joint working with the Homes and Communities Agency and Government Office to ensure that there are economies of scale and efficiency savings as well as sharing of good practice and regional skills base on local authority delivery.
  • Further our understanding of the potential for empty homes to meet identifed needs.

What outcomes does this work help to achieve?

  • Inequalities have been reduced , the health and well-being of the population has improved and currently excluded communities and areas requiring regeneration have benefitted from development and investment.
