Supporting councils to improve their services and become more efficient
How we support councils
LGYH provides support to councils to help them improve how they deliver services and to become more efficient. Key support includes:
- Co-ordinating improvement programmes, projects and activities so that opportunities for collaborating and sharing learning are identified and implemented;
- Managing the Regional Capacity Building Strategy and Programme (which is managed and coordinated through the Local Government Improvement Board and the Strategy Implementation Group); >> Link to further information on Capacity Building
- Developing the regional Learning Exchange to ensure information on good practice is up to date and to act as a clearing house for secondments, placements and development opportunities
- Working with the Centre of Excellence to bring local authorities to work together on improving efficiencies through shared services and other collaborative working;
- Developing and delivering a `Leadership Challenge’ project which will focus on building transformational leadership in the region among local authority managers/professionals, elected members, communities and with individuals;
- Providing tailored support to those authorities rated as 0/1* (poor/weak) in order to help them build their own capacity;
