Improvement Board
What is it?
The Improvement Board's overall aim is to co-ordinate and drive a collaborative regional approach to improving local government in the region which adds value to the local, national and wider context. It identifies areas where authorities and partners in the region can collaborate in order to improve services and capacity in local government. The partnership has overall responsibility for implementation of the Regional Capacity Building Strategy and Programme and as such ratifies all decisions made by the Strategy Implementation Group on commissioning of projects/programmes and the allocation of capacity building funds to improvement activities
How does it work?
The Improvement Board includes: existing LGYH Executive Board members; one key member portfolio holder representative from each sub-region; one Audit Commission officer representative; one Government Office for Yorkshire and Humber officer representative; one IDeA representative; and one Fire and Rescue authority officer representative. The Improvement Board meets three times per year.
What's in it for me and my authority?
The Improvement Board brings value to all local authorities in the region through its work on capacity building, supporting improvement, encouraging collaboration and influencing national policy. All of the region's authorities are currently receiving support from the Capacity Building programme through locally developed sub-regional improvement programmes as well as pan-region projects on key areas for improvement.
